More than 11 million people tuned in to watch the 25th anniversary staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera last weekend.

The show was the composer’s latest to be made available to watch for free in YouTube series The Shows Must Go On, after Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar each racked up more than two million views.

The musical’s sequel Love Never Dies will be the next show to be screened.  It picks up 10 years after the events of Phantom and will run from 7pm on Friday April 24 for 48 hours.
