Tokyo officials aren't taking the news sitting down of having next summer's Olympic marathons shifted from the capital to Sapporo because of concerns of the extreme summer heat. 

To make their presence felt as the host of the 2020 Games and change the IOC’s mind, Tokyo officials have begun discussing alternative proposals. One such alternative is to move up the starting time of the marathon races—currently scheduled at 6 a.m.—by about one hour.
