Tokyo has moved another step closer in its quest to open a 70-story skyscraper made of wood in 2041.
At a cost of 6 trillion won, the 350 meter building will become the world's tallest to be made of wood.
Japanese media reports the developers completed fire assessments of the tower, which will be made of 90 percent wood and 10 percent steel.
Even if there were a continuous 3-hour fire, the structure would remain intact. If completed, the project aims to spark a revolution in high-rise construction to create urban forests.
There's also the added advantage that wooden structures perform better in earthquakes.
