Park sent the letter from the Legation of Korea, which would later become the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States.
Said letter was sent to Seoul on June 12, 1888, predating Japan's 1910 annexation of Korea.
The letter was purchased in an auction by the late Korean-American Maeng Seong-ryeol in 2005. It was later donated to the Korean American History Museum in May of this year, only to be recognized by a professor at Dongguk University.
