The device, and his recent accomplishment, have made Zapata a household name in France. He completed the 35-kilometer trek in just 22 minutes, reaching a top speed of 177 kph.
His kerosene-powered vehicle required one refueling stop, which was done from a boat in the choppy waters on the British side of the Channel.
