A statue commemorating the late Goryeo scholar, Jeong Mong-ju was recently erected in Ningbo, China. Jeong visited the Ming Dynasty as an envoy for 16 years to promote friendly relations with Korea. More than 600 years after the fact, Jeong's descendants presented the statue to Ningbo as a continuation of cultural exchanges between the two countries. Ningbo is said to have been one of the top three Chinese port cities during ancient times and its shipping routes helped boost cultural exchanges.
고려 고 정몽주를 기리는 동상이 최근 중국 닝보에 세워졌다. 정씨는 16년 동안 명나라를 사신으로 방문하여 한국과의 우호관계를 증진시켰다. 이 사실이 알려진 지 600여 년이 지난 뒤 정씨의 후손들은 양국 문화교류의 연속으로서 닝보에게 이 동상을 선물했다. 닝보는 고대 중국의 3대 항구도시 중 하나였으며 이 항로가 문화 교류를 활성화하는 데 도움이 되었다고 한다.
