Leaders of several nations, including French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Theresa May gathered this week to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion.
Along with the summit, a letter sent by Dwight Eisenhower to his wife, a day before the launch of the game-changing operation, has been made public.
His letter said that he would go "on a series of trips" that would take several days, apparently mindful of the landing operation at the time.
He also mentioned feeling "stymied" about choosing a topic for the letter. It's thought that the letter was deliberately ambiguous to avoid possible detection by enemy forces.
