While many regions are gaining access to electricity at a faster pace, the prospects for many African countries remain bleak. In particular, sub-Saharan Africa is especially problematic with just 44% of people in 2017 having access to electricity.
The report also looked at so-called clean cooking, which is said to be vital to improving health by reducing smoke indoors.
