Ahead of the 100th anniversary of Korea's March 1 Independence Movement, the role of several non-Korean facilitators has come to the fore. One such person is Canadian veterinarian and missionary, Frank Alex Schofield, also known by his Korean name, Seok Ho-pil.
Schofield actively took part in the Korean independence movement, reporting Japan’s brutal colonial rule to the rest of the world and helping Korean independence fighters in prison.
Other non-Koreans involved in the March 1 Independence Movement include Robert Grierson, Albert Taylor, Alex Linton, and Horace Underwood.
