Amid the increasing social pressure against drunk driving, the National Police Agency announced that it wants to lower the legal blood alcohol limit to 0.03% for drivers under the influence. In addition, drivers will have their licenses suspended after two DUI infractions instead of three. Officials say the need to toughen the consequences to reduce the number of repeat offenders.

Starting next month, there will be an intensified crackdown on drunk driving for a three month period. They will increase security checkpoints from midnight to 6AM and will conduct nationwide checkpoints at the same time every Friday night.
