According to police, the site contained over 83,000 unauthorized postings of more than 1,600 webtoons, which is estimated to have cost the industry some 240 billion won, or $220 million USD
The site also earned about 950 million won, or $880,000 USD in illegal profits from banner advertisements for online gambling sites.
Representatives from the webtoons industry were pleased with the arrest, but called for continued stern punishments by law enforcement officials.
