On the surface it seems households are doing well with on-year growth being the quickest since early 2014.

But the monthly average income of the bottom 20 percent income bracket dropped 8 percent on-year to 1.28 million won. Households in the upper 20 percent income range earned 10 million won per month, which was a 9.3 percent jump.

The finance ministry said the widening income disparity was due to a rise in low-income households.

Senior households also appear to be suffering with more elderly Koreans falling into the lowest income bracket than before.

그러나 하위 20퍼센트 소득 계층의 월 평균 소득은 전년 대비 8퍼센트가 감소한 128만원이었다. 소득 상위 20%가정의 월 소득은 1000만원으로 9.3%증가했다.

재경부는 소득 격차가 벌어지는 것은 저소득층 가구의 증가 때문이라고 말했다.

또한 노인 가구들은 이전보다 더 많은 수의 노인들이 최저 소득 계층으로 떨어지는 고통을 겪고 있는 것으로 보인다.
